Description du contenu de l'enseignement

In this course the student should acquire the basic knowledge in computational fluid dynamics (CFD) :
Principles of 2D and 3D CFD :structured and unstructured grid, boundary conditions, choice of space scheme (central, upwind, flux limiter …), choice of numerical scheme : compressible scheme and incompressible scheme (SIMPLE, SIMPLEC, PISO …), under-relaxation, multigrid technique, chimera method, 2D and 3D Modeling turbulent flow with free surface, comparison between turbulence models and experimental results, choice and pertinence of turbulence modeling, Description of the VOF methodology (Volume Of Fluid) to localise the free surface, Validation of VOF compared to experimental results, choice and pertinence, boundary conditions, Description of solid transport modeling, comparison between solid transport modeling and experimental results, choice and pertinence.
Concerning the CFD projet the goal is to be able to handle entirely a numerical fluid mechanics problem : bibliography, grid generation, computation, visualisation and results presentation.
 

Compétences à acquérir

  • To be able to set up the numerical parameters to solve a physical problem with a commercial solver.
